14 Dec 2018- UVESA Group collaborates with the European project LIFE MCUBO, whose objective is to optimize the consumption of water and energy in the food industry and reduce the environmental impact associated with its management. It is a project of duration of 3 years, which began in September 2016 and will end in August 2019.
UVESA – one of the leading companies in the production and processing of chicken at a national level, in fresh, frozen and processed products, to which we must add the pig and feed business lines – has wanted to collaborate in this initiative to demonstrate that Reducing the consumption of water and energy, far from being contrary to the improvement of the company’s productivity, makes it more profitable and more competitive.
The measures carried out for this project in collaboration with the company, pose a reduction of 30% of current water consumption, as well as 5% of electricity. To achieve this objective, Grupo UVESA has transferred its facilities from the Tudela plant for the installation of the wireless sensors developed in the LIFE MCUBO project, which facilitate the capture of data in real time.
In addition, it has participated in the approach of improvements in the processing thanks to the information obtained after the monitoring and modeling of its production processes. The next actions of Grupo UVESA within the framework of the project will be aimed at simulating the proposed improvements in its Tudela production plant.
This tool, together with the continuous improvement systems already implemented at UVESA, aims to achieve environmental and productivity improvements.
