These awards recognise companies, institutions and personalities for their efforts, drive and commitment to the agri-food sector.
The V edition of the National Awards Sepor Gold 2021 has distinguished the excellence of UVESA Group in the field of innovation by making it an indispensable element in the development of its strategy and growth, demonstrating that innovation is a powerful lever of competitiveness in a sector such as agri-food, essential for the economy and Spanish society.
In this sense, the Livestock, Industrial and Agrifood Fair, held this week in Lorca (Murcia), has highlighted the participation of UVESA Group in the MICOALGA-FEED project which aims to develop new feed supplemented with fungi and microalgae that have antibiotic, immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory capacity for use in poultry growth farms.
An ambitious initiative, coordinated by the Fundación Empresa Universidad Gallega (FEUGA), with which to provide a solution to one of the challenges currently facing the sector and which, therefore, has a budget of more than half a million euros, 80% co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) of the European Union and 20% by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA).
All this thanks to the creation of a multidisciplinary team coordinated by the Fundación Empresa Universidad Gallega (FEUGA), and in which also participate as partners, in addition to Grupo Uvesa, the companies Hifas Veterinary S.L., NeoAlgae Micro Seaweed Products S.L.N.E. The Technological Centre AINIA, the University of Vigo, the Institute of Agri-Food Research and Technology (IRTA) and the University of Oviedo participate as subcontracted members.
In addition, the project has the collaboration of the Spanish Poultry Science Association (AECA, Spanish branch of the World Poultry Science Association, WPSA), the Spanish Foundation for the Development of Animal Nutrition (FEDNA), the Spanish Confederation of Manufacturers of Compound Feed for Pets (CESFAC) and the Spanish Interprofessional Organisation for Poultry Meat (AVIANZA). The Operational Group MICOALGA-FEED is responsable of this content.
UVESA Group is one of the leading producers of chicken in Spain and holds leading positions in the pig and feed manufacturing segments. Throughout its more than half a century of history, one of the keys to the success of UVESA has been its commitment to innovation and technology, factors that have helped to modernize a sector as traditional and atomized as the meat. As a fact, the company has allocated over the past 5 years more than 3.5 million euros to R & D + i with an exponential annual increase, which has led him to promote various projects that, as a whole, have allowed him to adapt with agility and efficiency to the changes and the context.
