Grangenia, one of the integrated farms with greater projection UVESA Group, has just obtained the ISO 14001 by the hand of AENOR, making it one of the first pig production centres to achieve this important environmental distinction and, in fact, the first farm in Spain of white pig production with this certification.
The La Serrota Group, to which Grangenia belongs, has been linked to the Uvesa Group for more than 20 years. During this time and as a result of their collaboration, important improvements have been achieved in the genetic, health and environmental sustainability fields, as well as milestones such as the construction of an NDN slurry treatment plant, aimed at reducing its water and carbon footprint, the culmination of various R&D projects and the commitment to talent through Dual training initiatives.
Currently, the group to which Grangenia belongs, located in Herreros de Suso (Ávila), has a volume of 9,000 productive mothers; 6,000 in production and 3,000 on the farm that produces the group’s genetics. With this certification, the Uvesa Group, together with its integrated farms, takes another step forward in its firm commitment to sustainability, environmental protection and the fight against climate change in line with its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This seal accredits that Grangenia’s environmental management system complies with the requirements of the international standard ISO 14001:2015 and highlights the actions taken to minimise the impact generated by this production activity, focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energies, waste management and reduction, eco-design, circular economy and the optimisation of resources and services.
