Grupo UVESA has obtained the WELFAIR™ Animal Welfare seal for its fattening pig farms and piglet and mother farms in the northern and central areas of the country. This guarantee, based on the European Welfare Quality model, is a further step in UVESA Group’s ongoing commitment to animal care and good farming practices and is added to the certificate, obtained a year and a half ago, for its poultry farms.
After successfully passing several audits, this seal is a new step forward in the ambitious project of Uvesa Group to certify 100% of its pig integration and involves a major commitment of all links involved in the production to respect their requirements and offer the best products with all the guarantees to consumers.
The certified pig farms are located in the northern and central areas of Spain and have passed the Animal Welfare protocol based on the WQ referential, which is based on direct observation of the animals to evaluate the principles of Good Feeding, Good Housing, Good Health and Appropriate Behaviour.
This certification is the only one currently operating in Spain that can guarantee the requirements established in Welfare Quality, ensuring an exhaustive audit at all stages of production and maximum information and transparency for the consumer.
