May 17, 2019.- Framed in its commitment to the environment, Grupo UVESA launched in January the ECOCIPienso, Circular Economy project in the manufacture of feed for animal feed that reduces consumption and dependence on new external natural resources . Initially, the initiative has been implemented at the Uvesa feed factory in Valladolid but will progressively be extrapolated to its other two feed factories located in Tudela and Álcacer (Valencia).
The general objective of ECOCIPenso is to design an innovative production model in the agri-food industry based on the principles of the Circular Economy that allows reducing consumption and dependence on new external natural resources and that valorises organic, agro-food and plastic waste, converting them into resources for other industries.
The design of this new productive model includes, among other aspects, the identification of measures, actions and techniques related to the use of renewable resources and assessing their technical, economic and legal feasibility in the agri-food industry, especially regenerated water and renewable energies, as well as the identification of measures, actions and techniques related to the reduction of organic and agri-food waste and its revaluation.
The UVESA R & D Department is currently identifying circular opportunities to generate new lines, reduce costs and create new business models based on recycling, servitization, repair, updating and collaborative consumption. It is planned that this project ends in the month of October 2019.
ECOCIPienso, Circular Economy has the financial support of the City of Valladolid thanks to its line of grants for projects to promote the Circular Economy and Co-innovation in the municipality.
